Georgetown, Guyana – (May 11, 2017) His Excellency Brigadier David Granger, MSS, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the Government extend heartfelt sympathy to Mr. Eusi Kwayana on the passing of his wife, Ms. Tchaiko Kwayana, formerly known as Ann Cook, who died on May 6, 2017.
President Granger is deeply saddened at the death of Ms. Tchaiko Kwayana, who tirelessly fought for the rights of the African community and the Guyanese nation. Her activism in the African Society for Cultural Relations with Independent Africa (ASCRIA) and the Working People’s Alliance (WPA) as well as her support for the rights of women and children will be remembered.
Despite returning to the United State of America, the country of her birth, Ms. Tchaiko Kwayana continued to support the Guyanese society through the Helping Uplift Guyana (HUG) organisation, which she co-founded.
His Excellency Brigadier David Granger extends sincere condolences to Mr. Eusi Kwayana, husband, the children, Kofi, Iyabo and Baako Kwayana and other family members of the late Ms. Tchaiko Kwayana.
