Georgetown, Guyana – (May 29, 2016) President David Granger and First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, on Friday evening, attended the Mexican Mariachi Concert, which was held at the National Cultural Centre and headlined by the Mariachi Internacional Agave band.
The six-member group is a leading Mexican music band and is based in Guadalajara, Mexico. The members, who were beautifully attired in costume, performed most of their songs in Spanish but delighted the audience with a rendition of ‘Oh Beautiful Guyana’.
The Mexican Embassy in Guyana hosted the concert in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Youth and Sport to commemorate Guyana’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary of Independence.
Prime Minister, Mr. Moses Nagamootoo and his wife Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo, other government officials as well as members of the diplomatic corps also attended the event.
