Georgetown, Guyana – (April 6, 2016) President David Granger, today, received a courtesy call from Reverend Noel Holder, Senior Minister of the Ebenezer Congregational Church at Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, who revealed the church’s plans to provide remedial education services to its community.
During their discussions, Rev. Holder told the President that the church had already embarked the the construction of a centre, where remedial education programmes will be offered.
As it stands, the facility has the capacity to accommodate about 300 people and they are in the process of expanding it to include a balcony to increase that capacity so that weddings, community meetings, seminars and other events can be hosted there as well.
“This is a community venture and it will help to boost the activities that are happening in the community,” Rev Holder said.
Additionally, he updated the President on plans to develop the burial site of Hermanus Post at Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara to better honour his memory. Mr. Post was a naturalised Englishman of Dutch descent from the London Missionary Society who advocated the teaching of religion and literacy in Guyana in the early 1800s.
