Georgetown, Guyana — (October 17, 2018) The Civil Defence Commission (CDC), today, hosted a Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Workshop that targets agencies and inhabitants of the Demerara-Mahaica (Region Four). The one-day workshop was held at the Cara Lodge Hotel, Georgetown.

The workshop, led by Team Leader, Mr. Jonathan McCue, is tasked with the development of a regional DRM plan. The workshop is one component of a larger Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) project that will see the completion of five Municipal DRM plans and 24 Community DRM plans by November 30, 2018.

Representatives from the Ministries of the Presidency and Public Infrastructure, as well as the Demerara-Mahaica Regional Democratic Council, the Guyana Defence Force, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission, and the Guyana Rice Development Board attended the workshop.
