Georgetown, Guyana – (June 26, 2017) The Cooperative Republic of Guyana mourns the passing of Dr. Ivor S. Mitchell, former Managing Director of Guyana Office for Investment (GO-INVEST) and Professor of Marketing at the Clark Atlanta University.
Dr. Mitchell served as Managing Director of the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-INVEST) from 1994 to 1996. He also served as the Chairman of the Guyana Post Office Corporation and the Government Buildings and Properties Committee. From 1969-71, Dr. Mitchell was the Head of Department at the Guyana Development Corporation. He also served as Managing Director of the Guyana Chronicle and Guyana National Printers Limited.
Dr. Ivor S. Mitchell attended the University of Oregon, where he received his Master in Business Administration in Marketing, and a Master of Science in Economics. He later obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Georgia and twice earned the status of Fulbright Scholar. In 1984 he joined the Clark Atlanta University to occupy the Christine McEachern Smith endowed chair in marketing.
His Excellency, Brigadier David Granger, MSS, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana extends heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Mrs. Ivy Mitchell and daughter Karen, and other family members of Dr. Ivor S. Mitchell.
