The Cooperative Republic mourns the passing of His Lordship Randolph George, former Bishop of Guyana, who passed on Monday, July 18, 2016 at around 01:45hrs.
I wish to express to his wife Mrs. Sheila George, his four children – Gail, George, David and Christopher, grand-children – Stephon and Sydney and to the entire Anglican community, my sadness and that of the government, on the passing of this distinguished son of our soil.
Randolph George was a towering figure in the life of the Anglican Church. He served the episcopate for twenty eight years (1980- 2008) and was bestowed with the Cacique Crown of Honour in 1994. He was a sagacious, soft-spoken and amicable leader of the Diocese. Randolph George will be recorded as a person of quiet and unassuming dignity, whose respect and stature amongst the Faithful never diminished, even after his retirement.
He will be remembered, also, for his steadfast commitment to social justice, his advocacy of democratic reforms and for his service to the Integrity Commission of Guyana.
May his soul rest in peace!
David Granger
President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
