We are pleased to accept the Letters of Credence accrediting you as Non- Resident Ambassador of the State of Japan to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. We accept, also, the Letters of Recall of your predecessor, His Excellency Yoshimasa Tezuka.
We request that you kindly convey to His Majesty Akihito, the Emperor of Japan, our sincere gratitude for his warm greetings and kind sentiments. We extend best wishes for his personal wellbeing and for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Japan.
The Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the State Japan are separated by 24, 000 km of sea but we are united by relations cemented over a period of forty-six years. Guyana and Japan established diplomatic relations on June 11, 1969. The passage of the intervening years has witnessed an intensification of economic cooperation and trade between our two countries.
Guyana places a high value on the strengthening of economic cooperation with Japan. Guyana looks forward to continuing cooperation with Japan, particularly in the areas of economic, social and physical infrastructure and technology transfer. Investments in social infrastructure, particularly in education and public health, will sustain a more skilled and healthier workforce and thereby generate increased benefits for our people. They will enable our industries to improve their efficiency and competitiveness.
Guyana acknowledges and expresses its appreciation for Japan’s support for our country’s development. Guyana has also benefitted from Japan’s cooperation with the Caribbean Region. Guyana intends to expand economic cooperation with Japan in the ensuing years.
We take this opportunity to extend to you a warm welcome to our beautiful country. We offer you our best wishes for a productive and successful tour of duty. We assure you of our government’s full cooperation in the discharge of your responsibilities.
I thank you.
