Georgetown, Guyana – (May 18, 2018) President David Granger, today, met with Toshao of Chinoweing Village, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven), Mr. Roger Roland who brought to his attention, issues in relation to land and untenable mining practices that are polluting water sources on which communities depend.
President Granger assured the Toshao that his issues will be raised with Minister of Natural Resources, Mr. Raphael Trotman. He also tasked Minister of Public Affairs, Ms. Dawn Hastings-Williams, who was present at the meeting, with liaising with the regional and community leaders and regulatory authorities to ensure that the issues affecting the village are resolved as quickly as possible.
The Toshao was accompanied to State House by the Chinoweing Village Council’s Assistant Secretary, Ms. Rhonda Austin and Community Development Officer, Mr. Kelly Andries.
