Georgetown, Guyana – (March 5, 2019) The Ministry of the Presidency firmly condemns as false and malicious an article published today by News 9 Paper claiming that President David Granger had been involved in an accident this morning.
This report, “President’s convoy crashes; one dead, David A. Granger ‘loses’ leg” is patently false.
Neither the Head of State nor any of the vehicles in the Presidential Convoy was involved in an accident.
The Head of State remains in good health, having returned to Guyana from the Republic of Cuba on March 2 from where he had gone to receive treatment for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
The Ministry of the Presidency rejects this article as wicked and designed to create mischief. As such, it strongly urges the publishers to embrace the principles of good journalism before rushing to publication.
The Ministry also, once again, urges the public not to be duped by misinformation and falsehoods published by this site and on other disreputable social media platforms.
