Yas School of Inspiration is part of Govt’s vision of “total inclusion”—President Ali

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali described the commissioning of the Yas School of Inspiration at Craig, West Coast Demerara, as a clear demonstration of his Government’s efforts to extend development across Guyana and to the diverse needs of its people.
The school, which is the country’s 49th SEND space (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), will provide specialised support and services for children with special needs, with a particular focus on autism.
It will serve approximately 50 students.
According to President Ali, the school “will nurture potential, where unique minds are not seen as limited, but as wired for wonders we are only beginning to comprehend”.
Each classroom of the specialised school is equipped with digital teaching screens and interactive learning materials, which is geared to support the Government’s plan of total inclusion.
“From the Hinterland to the coastland, from the youngest child to the most senior elder, from the able-bodied to those requiring unique support—the vision is total inclusion. We are dismantling the architecture of neglect and constructing, in its place, an ecosystem of opportunity.”
Additionally, President Ali expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its support.
The school was constructed by the Government of Guyana, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady and the Government of the United Arab Emirates. The President emphasised that the project celebrates a new partnership and bridges the cooperation being built across continents.
First Lady, Mrs Arya Ali; Minister of State for International Co-operation of the United Arab Emirates, the Honourable Reem Al Hashimy and members of the Cabinet were also at the event.
