Georgetown, Guyana – (April 14, 2016) President David Granger, today, received a courtesy call from Executive Chairman of Reunion Manganese Incorporated, Mr. David Fennell, at the Ministry of the Presidency, who gave him an update on the company’s operation at Matthews Ridge, Barima-Waini.

In a brief comment after the meeting, Mr. Fennell said that Reunion Manganese is committed to operating in Guyana in a manner that would allow all stakeholders to participate and benefit from the opportunities derived from the various projects that the company rolls out.

“When we develop a project it’s with the idea of being as inclusive as possible and getting the buy-in of all of the stakeholders,” Mr. Fennell said.

He was accompanied to the meeting by Reunion Manganese Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Jo Jayah and Major General (ret’d) Norman McLean.

In 2011, the company inked a 25-year agreement with Guyana for resuscitate manganese mining in Region One. Reunion Manganese has suffered some setbacks with the 80 percent collapse in manganese price. However, the Chairman is optimistic that the company can turn around once commodity prices on the world market stabilise.
