His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali said that a people-centred approach would continue to be the central focus of his Government over the next five years.

This systemic approach will build on existing policies that have already made tangible impacts, and will be strengthened by new, targeted initiatives designed to improve the lives of all Guyanese, ensuring no one is left behind as the country continues to develop.

During a Sunday afternoon live broadcast on social media, the President spoke of his Government’s plan to continue reducing the impact of the cost of living on the lives of all Guyanese. He said there will also be additional initiatives to support lower-income earners, the vulnerable, young people, the elderly, and women, especially single mothers.

The President earmarked the reduction in certain essential services, highlighting the impact the gas-to-energy project would have on Guyanese, especially the reduction of electricity by 50 per cent and the extreme reduction in the price of cooking gas.

He also focused on a more comprehensive housing programme aimed at greater support, an unparalleled healthcare system, improved access to quality education, and the expansion of agricultural initiatives to strengthen food security and empower rural communities.

The President was clear that taxes will be further reduced, salaries increased, cash grants bolstered, and overall development skyrocketing.
