• Ministers urged to embrace responsibility and hard work in delivering prosperity for all.

Georgetown, Guyana (September 14, 2025) – His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Saturday administered the Oath of Office to his new 25-member Cabinet and outlined a clear mandate for transformation, accountability, and service to the people.

In a powerful address, President Ali emphasised that the next five years will be the most decisive in Guyana’s history, requiring results-driven, people-centred, and efficient governance. He underscored that ministers will be continuously assessed, with performance measured by delivery and humility rather than power.

“This government is not about power. It is the exercise of responsibility, service, and humility. No egos.”

He noted that there will be changes where such changes are necessary, as “the foundation of this new government is about results, people, efficiency, transparency, and relentless hard work.”

Core priority areas, he stated, will include the expansion of infrastructure to connect regions, modernise democratic institutions, reform healthcare and education, and diversify the economy to secure long-term prosperity.

President Ali told the new cabinet that the transformation agenda must uplift every citizen, reaching every community with an improved quality of life.

“The next five years are the most decisive years in our history, and they must be years that are results-driven, people-centred, and efficient in delivery of service.”

The professional and technical experience of the cabinet, he stressed, will be part of the government’s driving force to deliver on promises for transformation. It will be part of the human capital and human asset that will enable the effectiveness and efficiency of his government.

He said that the transformative programmes for the next five years are ambitious and will demand urgency and accountability.

“We are tasked with building the infrastructure that will connect our regions, modernising the institutions that will safeguard our democracy, reforming the systems that deliver health care and education, and diversifying the economy to ensure prosperity for generations to come. These are not ordinary tasks. They are the heavy burdens of governance.”

He also recognised the contributions of grassroots workers, noting that they remain the foundational pillars of the government’s success and concluded with a call to service, noting that “Every second counts, every minute counts, and we have to make it count in favour of the people.”
“I thank all of you for your service. I thank all of you for giving of yourselves for our country, and I assure you: a very interesting journey, a rewarding journey, and a satisfying journey in the interest of the people,” he added.
