First Gov’t Services Centre opens

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali visited the newly opened Leonora Government Services Centre on the second floor of the West Central Mall in Region Three (Essequibo Islands–West Demerara) earlier today.

During the visit, the President interacted with staff and persons conducting business at the centre.

He reminded that the centre is intended to provide citizens with access to important Government services at a decentralised location, enabling Guyanese to “enjoy a better quality of life and quality of service”.

The President added that Government Services Centres will be replicated in various regions across the country.

They will offer services from several entities, including the Guyana Registrar’s Office, the Guyana Revenue Authority, and the Central Immigration and Passport Office.

Services will include passport applications and renewals; birth and death certificates; marriage licence applications; driver’s licence applications; and the renewal of other important GRA services. Persons will also be able to apply for their new e‑ID.

The Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, the Honourable Zulfikar Ally, was also part of the visit.
