Georgetown, Guyana – (May 18, 2016) First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, today, met with representatives from Women for a Green Economy at her State House Office.
Woziero Esther Gittens, Chairperson of the group, Ms. Karen Nieunenkirk, Ms. Vanessa Peters and Ms. Nicola DaSilva, Vice Chairperson attended the meeting. Ms. DaSilva said the group is cognisant of the work of the Office of the First Lady, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, community empowerment and community mobilisation.
In an invited comment, the First Lady said “the meeting is the first step in exploring possible areas of collaboration.”
The group’s mission is “to assist Guyanese women and youths to develop programmes and projects, which would empower them to actively participate in the sustainable development of their communities and the country as a whole,” Ms. DaSilva said.
