— Almost 7,000 to graduate this week

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali charged graduates of the master’s degree programmes under the Guyana Online Learning Academy (GOAL) scholarship programmes to be bastions of positive principles in their lives and country.

During his address to over 900 master’s degree graduates at GOAL’s Third Graduation Ceremony at the National Cultural Centre today, the Head of State called for them to be agents of positivity and to lead by example.

The President underscored that each of them represents a new addition to Guyana’s growing pool of “qualified, capable and skilled men and women” and are now part of the revolution that is taking place in Guyana’s education system.

“You are the face of a new Guyana. You are the bridge between where we were and where we are going. You are the proof that when people are given a chance, they will rise.”

The President also assured that his Government will continue to make transformative investments in all sectors across the country, especially in education, to ensure that Guyana’s human resource capital grows equally.

“I ask you to go forward from here not only as graduates, but as ambassadors of possibility. Let others see your achievements and be inspired. Let them know that it is never too late to learn, that they do not have to leave their job, their family, nor their community to pursue their dreams. That GOAL is here. That opportunity is here. That hope is here.”

Over the next two days, almost 7,000 students will graduate from programmes covering various fields at varying levels.

Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance and Public Service, the Honourable Dr Ashni Singh, and other Government Ministers and officials were also at the event.
