Georgetown, Guyana – (June 7, 2019) Minister within the Ministry of the Presidency, Mrs. Simona Charles-Broomes, this afternoon, returned to the New Mosque Masjid in Alexander Village provide an update on the advances that she has made in addressing some of the concerns raised during her visit there last month. 

The Minister informed the small gathering at the facility that she had secured employment for three young men at the GAICO Construction and General Services Incorporated’s Oil Spill Services as welders. In addition, she said that beleaguered Teacher, Ms. Lavern Frederick’s matter is now engaging the attention of the Ministry of Education. 

“Government can come and offer you opportunities, but you have to be committed… I came here because I am committed and any request made of me, I will try to facilitate to the best of my abilities,” she said. 

Meanwhile, Imam of the mosque, Brother Khaleel Wahab expressed gratitude to the Minister for her support and for partnering with the group to provide opportunities for the community’s youth.
