Georgetown, Guyana – (May 30, 2019) Minister within the Ministry of the Presidency, Ms. Simona Broomes, yesterday, met with residents of Danielstown, Pomeroon-Supenaam (Region Two) following the ‘Government Comes to you’ outreach exercise hosted there. Minister Broomes presented a quantity of foodstuff and clothing to the residents and addressed several of their concerns raised at a community meeting held at the Sparta Primary School. She also committed to having the matters raised, which are outside of her remit referred to the relevant ministries for action.

Minister Broomes told the gathering that following the outreach exercise, the Government felt it necessary to further connect with residents, even as she assured them that developments will continue to take place there.

“I am here to provide service to you the people…It is my responsibility to liaise with you and your local leaders to get you the relevant information that you need. The Government has recognised the challenges its citizens face and we, as a Government, are looking for solutions and these solutions will take places throughout the country,” she said.

During the interactive session, the villagers raised several concerns about infrastructure, the installation of street lights and other matters, which Minister Broomes pledged to address.

Danielstown resident Ms. Sheila Tobias said she was elated by the Government’s presence in her Region and that she was satisfied with the recent developments taking place there.
“I am very much pleased with the work that the Government has been doing so far and I want to say thank you for all the hard work you are doing for the region,” she said.
