Georgetown, Guyana – (May 8, 2019) First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, yesterday, presented a quantity of adult and children’s clothing, toiletries, baby supplies and feminine personal care items to the Women Across Differences (WAD). The items were donated by the Daughters of the King of Saint Timothy Episcopal Church, Decatur Georgia.

In her address to the small gathering of teenage mothers, the First Lady, who is patron of WAD, said that she is pleased to see the young women taking control of their lives. Mrs. Granger also expressed gratitude to the donors for partnering with WAD to give the teens a second chance at success.

“I’m very grateful to the persons, mostly women… who have joined in this venture and I am happy that this will provide some assistance to you… I’m always happy to work with you guys and I’m always looking out to see what you’re doing,” the First Lady said.

WAD Coordinator, Ms. Clonel Samuels-Boston, said that the donation will greatly benefit the adolescent mothers who come from various socio-economic backgrounds. She said too, the organisation through its Comprehensive Empowerment Programme, offers skills training activities and other learning opportunities for the teenagers.

The presentation was made at the WAD’s headquarters on Anira Street, Queenstown.
