Georgetown, Guyana – (December 15, 2018) First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, along with Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mr. Basil Williams, SC. and Minister of Social Protection, Ms. Amna Ally today spread Christmas cheer to children of Buxton and Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.

Several toys were distributed to the children who were more than elated to not only receive them but also meet the officials. The distribution of some 500 toys was held at the Buxton Gas Station and the Lusignan – Good Hope Learning Centre respectively.

“On behalf of my husband and myself, I want to wish everyone a very happy, loving giving and peaceful Christmas”, Mrs. Granger said to hundreds of children gathered at the Buxton Gas Station.

At the Lusignan – Good Hope Learning Centre, the First Lady expressed similar sentiments, while thanking the administrators of the Centre for their hard work.

Every year the Government officials distribute toys in Lusignan, while overseas based couple Mr. Morris Wilson and Mrs. Jocelyn Wilson donate toys to the community of Buxton.

Mrs. Jocelyn Wilson said she and her husband have been giving back to the community of Buxton for several years.

“We have been doing this for the past ten years…we give out chits through the schools and share chits to children who may turn up without”, Mrs. Wilson said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Mekiba Emptage of Lusignan thanked the Government for the distributing toys to children in her community.

“It is a very good initiative because it’s very exciting for the children and it brings smiles to everybody’s faces, not only my children but also other children in the community as well”, Ms. Emptage said.
