Georgetown, Guyana – (September 30, 2016) His Excellency Brigadier David Granger, MSS, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and his Cabinet of Ministers extend heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Professor Emeritus Dr. Doris Elrina Rogers, who passed away on September 22, 2016.

Dr. Rogers was a distinguished national expert in the field of art education and the performing arts. She graduated as a trained teacher, first class and studied Art and the teaching of Art after being awarded a UNESCO Fellowship to the South Australia School of Art. She then attended the Howard University, where she studied Art before pursuing a Doctorate in Art Education at the Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Doris Rogers served as an Arts Specialist to the Ministry of Education and taught at the Bishop’s High School before moving on to a distinguished career at the University of Guyana.

May her soul rest in peace!
