Georgetown, Guyana – (April 29, 2016) The Cabinet has granted approval for Climate Change Officer Kandila Ramotar and Advisor on Climate Change Ndibi Schwiers-Ceres to represent Guyana at the United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held May 16-26, 2016 in Bonn, Germany.

The United Nations Climate Change Conferences are annual conferences held in the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The conferences serve as a formal meeting of the UNFCCC Parties to assess progress in dealing with climate change and (as of the mid-1990s) to negotiate Kyoto Protocol to establish legally binding obligations for developed countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

The UNFCCC will cover all costs including travel, food and accommodation for the participants.
