Georgetown, Guyana – (April 29, 2016) Minister of Finance, Mr. Winston Jordan is participating in the World Bank’s Regional Conference “Cuentas Claras: Governance for Growth with Equity in Latin Americana and the Caribbean” in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The forum is organised “to promote the dialogue about strategic policies to address the challenges of enhancing transparency and accountability in the public sector with the objective of raising long term growth and equity”.

During the course of discussions, panelists and participants are obtaining first-hand knowledge of governance reforms in the region and the wider world, offering their own experiences to advance growth in the region. The Minister was invited to be among a panel of Finance Ministers, who will address the impact of specific governance challenges on the ability of nations to implement policy reform in the context of a period of low growth, which threatens the gains experiences during the boom years.

A number of high-level government officials and representatives of multilateral financial institutions, researchers and other leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean are also attending the forum.

The two-day Conference, which started on April 28, was jointly organised by the World Bank and the Government of Uruguay.
