Georgetown, Guyana – (April 14, 2016) Subsequent to the dissemination of the Release below, it was realised that Stabroek News, in its front page Headline of its Thursday, April 14, 2016 edition, also erroneously reported that “Beijing paid for Minister’s private jet riders, Granger says”. In the story, which is carried on page 12 of that publication, the newspaper further reports that, “President David Granger who disclosed yesterday that Harmon’s private jet trips in China were paid for by the Chinese Government”.

As was done with Kaieteur News, earlier in the day, the Ministry of the Presidency calls on Stabroek News to correct this misinformation, as it is outlined below that the President never said that the Chinese Government paid for the Minister of State’s travel.

The Ministry of the Presidency is disappointed that the President would be misquoted in this fashion.
