Georgetown, Guyana – (March 4, 2016) Minister of State, Mr. Joseph Harmon, today, presented Toshao of Toka Village, Lethem, North Rupununi, Mr. Delano Davis with a cheque for $200,000 to help offset transportation and accommodation costs for the Toka Village Council to travel to Georgetown to meet with ministers to address village concerns.
Minister Harmon took a decision to make the contribution, during a recent trip to Lethem, Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo (Region Nine).
Mr. Davis, said the council aims to advance programmes the Government has already started, during its meeting with the ministers. “We feel this initiation of a working relationship with your ministry and the other ministries within our Government will strengthen our plans for development and their implementation,” he said.
Mr. Davis also said that the Council is a youthful one with seven members and that the venture will provide an opportunity for the group to familiarising themselves with the various government officials.
The Toka Council is expected to visit Georgetown for one week from Saturday 12th March to Saturday 19th March 2016.
