Georgetown, Guyana, September 21, 2015 – Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, today met with General Manager of Oldendorff Carriers (Guyana) Incorporated, Paul Mohn at the Ministry of the Presidency and the company’s Director of Projects, Scott Jones.

Minister Harmon assured the company’s executives of the Government’s full support for the continuation of its operations in Guyana. He said, “I am giving you the assurance and the satisfaction that this government would be happy to continue working with your company, because we know your investment is long-term.”

The Minister added that the Government is extremely pleased that Oldendorff’s operations has provided employment for a large amount of Guyanese. He said those employees can be assured that the Administration will not take any measures that will place them on the breadline or compromise their livelihoods.

The Minister believes that support must be given to facilities like Oldendorff to ensure continued employment opportunities for this nation’s people. He is slated to visit the company’s operations shortly.

Meanwhile, Director of Projects, Scott Jones said that Oldendorff has had extremely good experiences in Guyana and is keen on continuing its operations here. He also lobbied for the Government’s support in the company’s continued servicing of the bauxite industry.

Oldendorff Carriers is a company located in the Berbice River, involved in the shipping logistics for the Bauxite Company of Guyana Incorporated (BCGI) and RUSAL.
