Georgetown, Guyana, September 14, 2015 – Minister of State, Joseph Harmon who is currently performing the duties of Foreign Affairs Minister, Carl Greenidge, today received a courtesy call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Canada, Konstantin V. Zhigalov at the Ministry of the Presidency.
During the meeting, Minister Harmon briefed the visiting Ambassador of Venezuela’s unjust claims over Guyana’s territory and sought Kazakhstan’s support in condemning this act of aggression.
Ambassador Zhigalov in turn, solicited Guyana’s cooperation in seeking membership for Kazakhstan to have a non-permanent seat on the United Nation’s Security Council. He also presented a letter for President David Granger from the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Ambassador V. Zhigalov is also the Concurrent Ambassador to Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
