Georgetown, Guyana – (August 20, 2015) – Former Permanent Secretary,  and Head of the Public Service and veteran public servant, Hydar Ally has commended the Administration for recognising that service to the people of Guyana is more important than political preference persuasions.

Ally made these comments during an appreciation ceremony, hosted by The Public Service Department, within the Ministry of the Presidency.  The event, which was organised by the current Permanent Secretary within that department, Reginald Brotherson, was also attended by Minister of State Joseph Harmon and Minister of Citizenship Winston Felix.

Ally’s tenure as Permanent Secretary and Head of the Public Service came to an end on June 30, 2015. Minister Harmon told the gathering that, “once people serve honourably their service will be respected”.
He noted that the Administration remains concerned about the quality of service provided by public sector employees and is appreciative of the input of all Guyanese, irrespective of political affiliation, religious persuasion and ethnic background.
Minister Harmon said that Ally was very keen on the delivery of quality service and added that the door is still open for him to come back, maybe as a trainer in the Public Service Staff College, which will be established soon.
Meanwhile, Minister Felix said that the ceremony is a demonstration of the high regard, in which Ally is held by the staff. He said that even though it may now be the end of Ally’s contribution to public service in that capacity, he is still fit and ready to continue in other areas where his skills are needed.
