President Jagdeo to receive Pushkin Medal tomorrow  

Georgetown, GINA, March 13, 2008

His Excellency Bharrat Jagdeo will tomorrow receive the Pushkin Medal from Russian Ambassador to Guyana, Pavel Sergiev at State House, Main Street.

            The prestigious Medal was one created in May, 1999 in commemoration of the 200th birth anniversary of Alexander Pushkin, who is known as Russia’s greatest poet.          The President was one of four Presidents bestowed with the Medal last year by Russian President Vladimir Putin. It was bestowed on the Leaders in recognition of their many achievements in the areas of Russian culture, arts, education and other studies.
