PRESIDENT JAGDEO FOR CARICOM EMERGENCY MEETING IN JAMAICA ON HAITI SITUATION
His Excellency Bharrat Jagdeo, President of Guyana will on Tuesday, March 2 attend an emergency meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Kingston, Jamaica to discuss the current situation in Haiti.
President Jagdeo on Sunday (February 29) held consultations via telephone with the current Chairman of CARICOM, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Mr. P.J. Patterson on the situation in Haiti. All CARICOM Heads are expected to attend this emergency meeting. The President of Guyana was at the time returning home from Barbados via Trinidad and Tobago.
The Guyanese Leader had on Friday, February 27 declared open the Guyana Trade Exposition at the Grand Barbados Resort in Bridgetown, Barbados. While in Barbados, President Jagdeo met with Prime Minister Owen Arthur on Friday to discuss matters of bilateral interest.
President Jagdeo will on Monday, March 1 hold talks on a range of bilateral issues with the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Patrick Manning in Port of Spain from where he will now travel to Kingston, Jamaica for the emergency meeting of CARICOM Heads.
